Nouveau Spin
James Guyatt (Drums) and Dax Williams (Bass) met brothers Ricky (Guitar/Vox) and Jamie Piper (Guitar) through mutual friends in Andover, Hampshire in the summer of 2004. Once acquainted they formed Nouveau Spin later that year. After a year of writing and rehearsing their own material they have recently embarked upon their first set of gigs and have recorded a 5-track demo CD (The Sound On Sound Sessions). Their guitar based sound owes much to the brit pop scene of the mid nineties but the band are difficult to pigeon-hole. Their influences are clear, but with their overall sound it is difficult to draw comparisons. Ranging from the 3 minute stomp-alongs of; 'Brothers', 'Won't go Home' and 'Wait For The Weekend' to the more sophisticated ballads of; 'Tracey Jane', 'Love Is Only The Start' and 'Take Me Home' their songs are as instantly likeable as they are diverse. The sheer weight of their own material gives them a particular edge as they refuse to fill their set with covers; a bold move which so far seems to have paid off as their live shows have been met with much acclaim. The band are now looking to do more gigs and expand out of Hampshire hoping to have reached a much wider audience by the new year.
