Feudal Symbol
Feudal Symbol are a progressive pop/rock two-piece based in Buckinghamshire.
Band members James Burgess and Wayne Ayres first formed in the autumn of 2003. The initial idea was to jam each other's material and assemble a couple of half-decent recordings of the songs as keep-sakes. The first few sessions were spent teaching each other the chords and rhythms as
well as belting out a few covers that we both liked at the time. Our own songs at the time reflected a similar style of song-writing and production and we then went on to co-write a few more tracks in that
genre for the next few months with a view to playing some local gigs just for a laugh! In
less than a year, and after a bit of circumnavigation around heavier
stuff emerging here and there because it just
didn't fit...we found ourselves bored with heartbreaks and ballads and consequently a darker, more energetic side of our song-writing started to appear. In no time at all we were judiciously stripping
songs from the set, something we still do to this date, and replacing them with more up-tempo and harder hitting material yet retaining
Wayne's intense, emotive lead harmonised by James smooth backing from the earlier stuff. Couple this with the synth-based pop/rock
backing to James electric guitar textures, which adds a live edge to the sequenced stuff, and we ended up with our sound.
As yet we haven't performed live with the current material to an unknown audience, mainly due to equipment shortage, but things have swung in our favour recently and with the inclusion of all our best
material, ruthlessly stripped to the bone for a more dynamic, powerful and audience-based sound and performance, we will be starting out on the Great Musical Circuit within the next couple of months.
